The
Czech pianist Jan Bartoš studied with Ivan Moravec, as well as with Alfred
Brendel and Leon Fleisher. Alfred Brendel described him as "one of his
most impressive and exciting young colleagues." His recordings for
Supraphon include Mozart's Piano Concertos with Jiri Belohlavek and Czech
Philharmonic, piano music of Beethoven and Janáček, and Novák's Piano Concerto
with Jakub Hrusa, have earned international critical praise from critics
(Gramophone, Diapason, BBC Music Magazine, The Times). His most recent CD,
released in 2023, including piano music of Miloslav Kabelac and Bedrich
Smetana, received a 5-star review from the BBC Music Magazine: "This is
one of the best and certainly most stimulating recordings of Czech piano music
of recent years."
